Executives of the Islamic Medical Association of Ghana (IMAGH) led by the President, Dr. Tanko paid a courtesy visit to the National Chief Imam, Sheik Nuru Sharubutu, on 2nd January, 2017
Reasons for the visit
The visit of IMAGH executives was to familiarize themselves with the chief imam as well as, to introduce to him the existence of such an association of Muslims within the health fraternity in the country. The main purpose of the meeting however, was to officially announce to him his appointment as the Chief Patron for the noble association.
Response from the chief imam
The chief imam was very impressed with the efforts made by Muslim health professionals in Ghana towards establishing such an important association. The Chief Imam accepted the honour and in few words said the following:
“We are grateful, this idea is about helping the Muslim Ummah and also a support that will get to humanity at large. [alhaau iya lillahi, haaduu ilallahi anfahu… (Qur’an)], creation is a family of Allah and the favorites of Allah among His creation are those who are of beneficial to humankind, and so we have to support you in this effort you are making…. may Allah protect you, may Allah grant you the needed energy, may Allah help us and our homeland Ghana and grant us peace and tranquility, may Allah help Muslims and the entire humanity at large…. I assure re you of any support that you may need from me and my office”.
Conclusion
The visit to the Chief Imam was very successful, and IMAGH intends to continue with such periodic visits to notable Muslim leaders in order to whip up support and create more awareness about the activities, aims and objectives of the association. May Allah facilitate khayr.
